WackWall Not that it’s a big deal but we unleashed hosted public beta into WackWall, too.

It’s an almost 50,000 webmaster accounts strong audience that’s been a little stale since we didn’t have much updates for the first version of WackWall. So we just released WackWall 2 on the new OpenWack platform in hope it’s going to heat things up.

If you are waiting to download OpenWack feel free to create a social network on WackWall to find out if this early feature-stripped build is for you.

We start iterating from here developing new features (most essential ones first) and of course fixing ongoing problems. The platform needs to mature and coding standards for plugins must be set by the core team. Also we will start working on OpenWack developer community infrastructure to get ready to release OpenWack as open source community software.

Wait for the downloadable version of what you see on WackWall some time around May. Don’t take that as a promise though, I’ll deny everything if needed. Honestly we really hope to release this thing in spring. It’s still going to be version 1.0 but really tested out and full-featured. This process has already been started.

Keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed.

OpenWack Facebook groupYes, our devheads promised not to sleep and eat until the first OpenWack community software alpha is put for testing. However that doesn’t stop us from building community around it.

Thanks for suggestions that you put on our suggestions board: http://openwack.uservoice.com. When we have the first round of obviously must-have social features developed, tested and shipped, we’ll get down right to what you think is important.

Now we have also set up our Facebook group. You are invited to join, chat with us, ask questions and track the progress.

Of course we are also planning to create official user and developer communities some time later but Facebook group will also exist forever because it will let more potential users know about OpenWack and learn how to use it. Welcome to our community. We need you.
